Alfred
Launch apps, run workflows, and search your Mac with a single keyboard shortcut.
Alfred is a long-running macOS productivity app that replaces Spotlight with a faster, more capable keyboard launcher. Trigger it with a hotkey to open apps, find files, do quick math, manage clipboard history, expand snippets, and run custom Workflows that chain shell scripts, AppleScript, and web actions.
The core launcher is free; the optional Powerpack unlocks Workflows, the clipboard history, snippets, 1Password integration, and Remote control from iOS. It's made by the small UK indie team Running with Crayons (Andrew and Vero Pepperrell), has been shipping since 2010, and is famously well-supported with a long changelog, an active forum, and a huge ecosystem of community workflows.
